![]() MacRumors has learned that Apple later this month will add the seventh-generation iPod nano to its list of Vintage and Obsolete products. Apple’s milestone updates (x.x) typically bring a mix of changes and that’s what macOS Sonoma 14.1 brings to the table. Sometimes older OSes aren't affected by all the same vulnerabilities as newer ones, but this is also information Apple doesn't usually provide. Tuesday Septem4:19 pm PDT by Juli Clover. Sometimes older versions get the same patches later, and sometimes they don't get patches at all, even if they are being actively updated.Ĭase in point: the iOS 15.8 release lists a single kernel-level security problem, CVE-2023-32434, while the iOS 16.7.2 update fixes 17 vulnerabilities throughout the operating system, and iOS 17.1 fixes 21. Regardless, Apple has said in the past that only its latest operating systems are guaranteed to be fully patched. And discover even more ways to personalize your Mac. But it will gradually become less safe to use them on the Internet, and new app updates and websites will gradually leave them behind. ![]() Companies usually offer two styles of pricing: a percent based on transaction value coupled with a flat rate known as “simplified” pricing, or a customized plan based on monthly transaction revenue and interchange fees, commonly known as “interchange plus”. Transactional feesĪs you’d expect, this fee occurs every time a credit card is swiped. The major associated fees are: transactional, flat, and incidental. It’s how processors make the majority of their income. Associated feesĪs previously mentioned, a credit card machine’s cost never ends at the hardware. They’re worth a lot in this business, and see if you can get extended warranties for all of your terminals. If you’re having trouble paying for terminals but don’t want to lease, you could consider an installment plan as well. People don’t just give away machines without expecting a return on it, so you know that money has to be coming from somewhere, and more often than not, it’s you! It’s almost always better to acquire a low-interest business loan (if necessary) to buy the machines upfront than renting the machines.īe careful when companies offer free terminals! It’s sort of like signing up for a cellphone contract. You could also consider leasing terminals for a lower rate, we highly recommend purchasing and planning for the long-term when applicable. Once you determine the type of terminal you’re looking for, you’ll have a better idea of what you should be paying. Take some time to analyze your current payment solutions and see which features are must-haves and which ones aren’t. We always recommend having a few with you and/or at your business location(s), provided there are no costly monthly fees. You may also find some processors offering phone swipers for free. As such, they make a great backup solution in case you’re out at an event, have an internet outage, or if your terminal is having issues with processing. Phone swipers are cheap and perfect for small businesses and people on the go. The cost of Smart Terminals may initially be steep, but over time the features quickly offset the initial cost. If your business prides itself on being innovative and providing the best customer experience, you should definitely check these out. Smart terminals are mobile terminals that offer all and more of the capabilities traditional terminals have, but are also wireless, touch screen operated, and accept all types of payments. These terminals are mobile-friendly, can be brought directly to a customer, provide swiping capabilities via phone, support Apple Pay or Android Pay and are great for small to medium-sized transaction volumes with small inventories. Wireless, contactless, or virtual terminals The price ranges depend on additional features such as wifi connectivity, touch screens, etc. In general, a traditional credit card machine costs significantly less than most other forms of payment devices because of their reliability, and their capability to easily be semi-integrated into your existing POS (making it easy to upgrade to an EMV solution). If you transact large amounts, either volume or price, then you want to consider one of the models below. Traditional terminals are typically wired, EMV compliant, can accept PIN/Debit transactions, have a keypad, and manually integrate with other devices. Let’s cover the broad terminal category types and how to figure out which terminal is best for your business. These are typically mobile, include a built-in printer, and feel both clean and modern. If the upper end of that range is intimidating, there are some companies (like Tidal Commerce) finding more cost-effective solutions via all-in-one smart terminals. You should analyze your brand and determine if providing a modern and innovative checkout experience is important to your customers (it usually is!). Prices rise substantially when you add in features such as a built-in printer, wireless capabilities, etc. The hardware you need is often based on the volume of transactions you have and specific transactional needs. If you’re only looking to provide basic service, then you shouldn’t be spending more than a couple hundred dollars on credit card hardware. Hardware costsĬredit card machines can cost anywhere from $200 to $1,000, depending on the features you need and the company you purchase them from.Īt the base level, you can expect a magnetic strip, display screen, keypad, and chip card capabilities. With this caveat in mind, we’ll break down the costs into three separate categories: 1. Almost all of them carry a variety of associated fees, and it’s never “just” the hardware. Whatever your reasoning for being here, it’s important to understand that credit card machines are a bit tricky when it comes to pricing. ![]() So you’re on the lookout for new credit card machines for your business or, perhaps, you’re forecasting replacement costs for your stores and need a working range to work off of. 1/15/2024 0 Comments AlDente Pro for windows download![]()

Even if you aren’t aware of it, your brain is constantly “on” in the background, shuffling and rearranging your upcoming to-dos to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. GTD is a popular time management strategy because of how simple it is to implement and how powerful it can be in practice. If I’m strike lucky and noting unseen come in, then I just pick more task off of my planning list to fill up the rest of the day. So I can make an allowance in how much I commit to each day to make sure I get things done. I also have a better list of what I HAVE done, not just what I had planned to do that day.Īfter a couple of days I get a better feel for how much overhead I need to leave each day to cope with these unknown tasks that are going to come in. If it doesn’t need to be actioned the same day the it goes onto my planner list for actioning at a more appropriate time in the futureĪt the end of the day, if I have tasks that I haven’t ticked off on my to do list, then I can quickly see if they were pushed off by too many incoming tasks. This means I have an easy way to see what has come in and bumped things off of my list. Anything that comes in and has to be done that day gets added to the list, but prefixed with ‘+’. So now my To Do list also has a ‘Done It’ section. I was finding this more and more as I’ve settled into working from home during lock down After a few days of this it can start to get really disheartening as you fall further and further back from where you want to be. There things pop up and throw your entire day out of whack, and your To Do list looks more and more like a wish list than a plan. 1/15/2024 0 Comments Collin sexton trade ideas![]() Subsequently, if trading Sexton managed to get them prized sixth man Bobby Portis Jr., then it might be a deal that's well worth it. ![]() Nonetheless, even if the Utah Jazz are now willing to move Sexton, it'll only be in a deal that makes sense for them. Plus, there is no subscription, so there is no risk of ever losing access to your work. So, you get all the capabilities as before, but for a fraction of the cost. $147 will get you the current version of Atticus, plus all future updates. Plus, that price is for a lifetime purchase. Programs like Vellum cost $199 for just eBook and $249.99 for ebook & print book capability.Ītticus, on the other hand, costs only $147 for unlimited books and ebooks. The cost of Atticus is one of its strengths. Furthermore, you can see how it compares to vellum, and what others thought. In other words, it has everything that the top formatting and writing software has, and there’s more coming to make it the best in the industry. You start in the dashboard where you can create a new book or upload an old one (there are a variety of ways to import a book that I’ll get to in the features section). You can write, edit, and export your novel with ease. How Does Atticus Work?Ītticus is currently both a word processor and a book formatting software. ![]() Essentially, we'll be turning it into the ultimate mashup of a solid formatting program, combined with the best of Scrivener and Google Docs. Plain and simple.Īdditionally, it's shaping up to be a solid writing program as well, and we're working on collaboration. I can confidently say that Atticus is the best formatting software, as we've done a side-by-side comparison on the leading alternative, and Atticus just has more features. I've always thought there was a lot lacking in other writing and formatting tools, and I really didn't think that authors needed a dozen different tools just to get through the writing and formatting process. Seriously though, Atticus is a brain-child for me. I don't know…it might have something to do with the fact that I'm the creator? Why Am I Qualified to Talk About Atticus? Because if you didn't spend the time or used a tool like Atticus to make your book look nice, that pulls the reader out of the reading experience, which is the last thing we want to do. This tool will not only make it easier to format books, but it will keep readers from leaving your poor reviews because you had a poorly-formatted book. Things like chapter headers, titles over the pages, a complex table of contents, and more.Īnd honestly, to get these features, I realized that most tools were either too complicated (like Adobe InDesign) or they were too expensive (like Vellum). Why Have an Interior Formatting Software?Īll you have to do these days is open a book and you'll see a ton of things you may not have noticed before. Want more videos like this one? Be sure to check out my YouTube channel. However, one day it will be the all-in-one solution for writing, formatting, and collaborating.Ītticus not only has a ton of features at launch, but also boasts a HUGE number of upcoming features that will make it the be-all, end-all of writing software. Autosave, Cloud Storage, and BackupsĪtticus is a software that currently gives authors an excellent way to write, and format their books at a lower cost and with equal results as a program like Vellum. So, in this review, I will not only show you what we've done so far, but what we're working on, and how we'll get there. When describing Atticus I like to tell people, “If Scrivener, Google Docs and Vellum got together and had a baby, its name would be Atticus.” My true dream in building Atticus is to actually create a software where authors can plan, plot, outline, write, collaborate and format all in one place. Well, that's exactly what we just did by making Atticus.io.īut as you'll see in this review of Atticus, we're not just going to stop at formatting. So, this got me thinking…what if I could create an easy-to-use software that helped authors format unique, beautiful and professional ebooks and books, have it work on all computers and not just Mac, be much cheaper and add more features and capabilities not currently offered? Plus, it's really only for formatting and doesn't offer anything else beyond that. However, Vellum only works on Mac, and is extremely costly. For years, authors really only had one efficient and effective way to personally format professional books and that was by using a software called Vellum. 1/14/2024 0 Comments Safari preferences shaded on imac![]() If you follow the same tribe, you’ll need to reboot your Mac occasionally to keep it running smoothly.
